http://forum.xtreamer.net/viewtopic.php ... 03&p=18975
Xtreamer?

Full Refund.

From the moment I saw what the Xtreamer was planned to be I believed it would do everything I needed from such a device.
Watching the initial ordering fiascos and all the controversy surrounding the website put me off ordering in the first batch and I resolved to wait until people actually started receiving their devices, I ended up ordering in the 2nd batch.
The frustration really started to grow with the lack of communication from Xtreamer and when I finally managed to get anything from them the terse tone in their communiques was very off-putting, taking the money from my card and then not delivering for nearly 8 weeks was really starting to get up my nose.
I was then issued a DHL tracking number which didn't actually correspond to anything that DHL had on their systems and to say my blood pressure was rising would be something of an understatement.
The Xtreamer Finally arrived at the start of September whilst I was away for the weekend.
I opened the box to find a rather nicely put together little device, have to say the pictures do not do it justice, I plugged it in to my rather swish new Denon AV Amp, installed the Wireless antenna (luckily using the faster of the 2 USB ports even though I had no idea one was faster than the other) put the batteries in my remote control and...
Nothing, it seems the device was bricked, I went over all the connections to make sure I'd got them right, not entirely certain what I could have got wrong but still it pays to be thorough, I knew I had power to the device because of the baleful little red light on the front.
Being thorough I moved it's connections direct to the TV but still nothing, just as the frustration was climbing I decided in my thoroughness to try with different batteries in the remote, even though the ones supplied had still been shrink wrapped.
It worked!!
Oh how it worked, it found all my shares I have on the network, it streams 720p mkv files without a pause (using 802.11n), it found the music library I had and coped with those as I wanted, jpg viewing is pretty good too, I didn't think I'd use that but I have a couple of ideas how it might be useful, it has so far managed to play files of every extension I have on my network, ISOs of DVDs are handled really well too.
Niggles I have are, the remote control is pretty dire, have to double press it to wake it up sometimes, it repeats the previous key pressed occasionally, sometimes it won't start playing a file when enter is pressed and you have to press stop and then press enter again when it will start playing properly, no sound whilst viewing files on the internet, I understand this is a known issue, I am using HDMI for the video and Optical for the sound.
The fan issue is non-existent whilst watching anything with some volume, I have it turned to low and cannot hear it unless I'm scrolling through files looking for something to play, I have not yet tried to stream anything 1080p/24 I will do so when I get suitable content to watch and I will try first with the wireless and if that doesn't work I'll hook up the Gig-E network.
For reference I am using a Netgear ReadyNAS 2150, Denon AVR-1910, LG 42LH5000and Kef speakers, the Wireless router is a BT HomeHub 2.0 and the wired network is provided by a Netgear GS608.
Overall impression of the device itself is excellent, the company's customer service department and communications leave a lot to be desired, however they(Xtreamer) have shown a willingness and a desire to fix problems so I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt, the device is pretty much what they said it would be, it's being developed further and I look forward to improvements in the coming months.
Would I buy from them again?
Yes, we'll see if they've learned their lessons and put in place the changes to correct them.
I am toying with the idea of the eTrayz, but I have a whole 6 weeks to find out more about that, not sure I need another NAS but the extra functionality it brings would be useful as some of that is not on the Netgear and I have a pc I can turn off, wonder if you can get a mail server running on it.
Just my opinion, but there you go, hopefully this has been of use to some people.
