[left]hi ofer, currently syabas has already open up the networked media tank firmware for individual user application development. As you can see some of the applications such as GBPVR, Llink etc.

i feel that the market is changing and more online video content rental provider such as netflix and itune store are emerging, it will be interesting when Hi-Def content are made available for rental.

For question 3, it all depends on the availbility of proper firmware or middleware support. If there is good software support, we as a manufacturer for the box will be able to make full use of all new feature. [/left]

[left]yes, it will solely depends on syabas middleware support capability. i believed they are working on the hebrew menu system for NMT players, when this become available it will be available for a firmware update.[/left]

regarding procedure - as most of the software development is actually done today at the middelware level, is most of what Syabas is doing due to your comments and requests or are they going by what end users demand?

For example, if you determine that you would get significant benefit from adding automatic jukebox view (thumbnail view for the movie files), is this something you can do independantly or require syabas to do it (and can it be done exclusively, and not for all the other syabas based systems)?

In my mind, this, in addition to the new audio formats, are the most critical features that are missing today.

Also, what are your plans regarding HD audio (TRUE HD, DTS HD/MASTER and LDPCM decoding and passthrough)?

at licensee level, we can provide as much feed back and inputs with regards to how the middleware is going to be develop in future. This include feed back on bug reports and feature request.

jukebox is already available today with several user-end application, such as this application call moviejukebox develop by one of the NMT owner.

personally i am using this, its great! Allows you to automatically download movie information and album art from IMDB.

Yes, we have plans to support new audio formats once the middleware is capable of doing so. One of the reason why we chose to use Syabas middleware because we strongly believe that they have the resources for such support. [/left]

Were you not looking for an extra edge to lure customers to your player rather then to the competition?
For me and i belive for many customers this feature is crucial for my next player.

Currently eGreat has it and we heard PopcornHour is due to release a new model with a usb slave next month.

hi, when HDX 900 was release around the same time as Istar and Popcorn Hour, USB slave is still quite unstable in term of firmware support. The firmware since been improve and if we are launching new models, it will definately be one of the main feature.
