JBL Synthesis Adds SDP-80 to Line of Premium Home Cinema Processors
The JBL Synthesis SDP-80 is Harman's newest addition to its home theater lineup,
featuring 36-channel audio support and HDMI 2.1 connectivity.
Harman Luxury Audio Group is launching the JBL Synthesis SDP-80,
the company’s newest addition to its home theater surround processing,
expanding the Synthesis lineup with 36-channel audio support and HDMI 2.1 connectivity.
The company bills its newest processor as future-ready with eight HDMI 2.1 inputs
and two outputs, supporting 48Gbps bandwidth, allowing 8K resolution at 60 frames
per second and 4K at 120 frames per second with HDR.
Harman adds that advanced video pass-through, including HDR10, Dolby Vision,
and HDCP 2.3 support, ensures visual fidelity for modern entertainment systems.
SDP-80 DAC, Power Supply Mark ‘Evolution’ of SDP-75
According to the company, the SDP-80, which will be available sometime in the Spring,
features 36 channels of high-res processing, delivering audio via Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro,
and Auro-3D. It also comes with the Trinnov Optimizer E1 room correction for use
with the Harman Target Curve to help optimize audio based on room dynamics.
Harman markets the SDP-80 as an evolution of the SDP-75 platform, including updates
like a new DAC, motherboard, and power supply for faster switching and improved audio.
For connectivity and integration into home systems, the JBL Synthesis SDP-80 features
XLR multichannel outputs, AES3 digital connectivity, and Roon Ready for high-res streaming.
It also comes with network options for control with AMX, Crestron and Savant modules.
Like the JBL Synthesis SDP-75, the SDP-80 also features HARMAN target curves
and pre-configured JBL loudspeaker EQ settings.
Jim Garrett, the company’s senior director of product strategy and planning,
says the newest Synthesis line of processors is designed to be a premium home cinema processor.
“With 8K video compatibility, and seamless integration with JBL Synthesis systems,
it provides an unparalleled level of precision and immersion,” Garrett says.
“Whether it’s a dedicated home cinema or a high-performance media room,
the SDP-80 is built for the most demanding enthusiasts.”
