מחפס המלצה למכונה ומטחנה
Good morning.
Sorry for writing in English, i read Hebrew but not very good at writing it.
I've been drinking Nes-Cafe till now, but can't stand it anymore and would like to buy a kit to make good Cappuccino at home.
I've read a little in this forum and watched quite a few YouTube videos about the importance of a good grinder. freshly grinned coffee, and difference between a pressurized basket and a non-presssurized one and so on.
I know this may be a huge step to go from Nes-Cafe (maybe I'll be OK with a capsules machine), but i rather avoid buying something and then throwing it soon in favor of something better, so i rather go to fresh grind coffee right away.
bottom line, I'm looking for a recommendation of a kit.
i think I'd like a plate / conical girder that can grind directly into the brewing basket.
a semi automatic machine with a milk steamer, probably one with non-pressurized basket.
a milk pitcher
and probably a nice tamper.
keeping it under 2,000 NIS budget (or less if Iit's possible to find something reliable).
feel free to tell me that what i'm looking for is wrong for me too.
Thanks a lot and sorry for my English.

Hi,
note that you need to include a decent grinder to get a decent cofffe so it should be part of your budget.
A good grinder is 500-1000 2nd hand (anything from Ascaso Imini to Compak K3), which leaves you with 1000-1500 for a machine.
In this price range, these are more appliances rather than coffee machines, so I'd recomend to either go with a fully automatic, capsules machine or increase the budget a little bit.
Either way, in this price range I will go with 1st hand machine rather than 2nd hand machine since they are generally not built to last much (10 years ago maybe they did, but certainly not now).

Thank you both.
The Makinata is an interesting idea, it's inexpensive so i won't lose much if/when i decide to upgrade.
My induction stove is a small complication (solvable) but i'm also worried that it would take too much time / work to make a cup of coffee with it.
Also if i wanna make one for my wife, i need to buy two at different sizes, right? (one for single cup and one for double)
Would something relatively inexpensive like the Delonghi DEDICA produce worse results than a Brika 4 Makinata?
Both have pressurized baskets. and the machine is faster and easier to use (although also more expensive).
Reading the last response i understand that it does (produce worse results), and that even a 1500 NIS machine would still be a bad choice?
so i'm curious what would you say is a decent cheapest machine that would justify a 1500 nis grinder?
About the grinder, I see a brand new Compak K3 is about 1500 NIS, and i understand it would be recommended to go with something even better, so can you give me some examples of a recommended grinder for 2000 or 2500?
Thanks a lot. and sorry again for my English.

Makinata is 2 shots (there are bigger sizes), so no issue for you in there.
You will need a seperare frohter for the milk, but it would be the better choice if you go with a single boiler machine at the price range you mentioned.
K3 is an overkill for Makinata but good for as a starting grinder for espresso so you won't need to upgrade later. you can find a 2nd hand for <1000 NIS.
Above this price range there are several options but I wouldn't go for them if you choose a makinata or a single boiler for the reason that you still don't know your future prefered method of preperation (single dosing, volume/weight, etc...) or if youll go that path at all.
Dedica is an appliance, not a coffee machine imo.

Thank you again for your reply.
Few things that are not clear to me from your answer.
Isn't there a Makinata for one shot? what if i wanna drink alone?
Not sure i understand what you meant by "but it would be the better choice if you go with a single boiler"? Is the Makinata a better choice?
For some reason i imagine that a pressurized basket "appliance" (like the Dedica) would produce similar results to the Makinata (both depend on pressurized chamber), but would be slightly more expensive, and slightly easier to use.
can you explain why am i wrong?
just for my understanding (despite not being relevant for me), can you give an example of a single boiler machine that you would not consider an appliance? is that the same thing.

There is a 1 shot Moka express makinata, but it is rare in shops, the most common one is 2 shots. Either way, if you choose this path, I would go with Brika makinata which is 2 cups minimum.
Single boiler machines requires a heat up or cool down time between brewing and frothing. This is not ideal mode of work so having a seperate frother is better choice imo (other might recomended it as not needed)
There is someone in the forum that mentioned he had 2 dedica that were broken in the recent year, I dont recall his name.
As for recomendations, any machine with PID and non-presurried baskets will be a good starting point.
You can look for deals on Lelit Anna or similar constructed machine from other manufacturers (all has entry level machine such as that)
