Greetings folks,

I aim to buy this 2nd hand set for my PC (the video card is nvidia GTX 670 with 2 HDMI ports):

ONKYO 706
front B&W 303
center B&W HTM62
sub and surround are from this set : http://www.canadahifi.com/review74.php

First question - What do you think of that set ?

Second - How can i ONLY pass audio to the receiver ? As I have a 1920x1200 monitor, I will not be able to enjoy it if i connect it to the receiver, so I was wondering what are my possibilities here

[left]This looks like a very solid set, if you like the sound of an Onkyo receiver with B&W speakers (I'm personally not a huge fan, esp. of the 303).

The combination with the Tannoy surrounds should be OK (matching surround speakers with the front speakers is less of a concern anyway, unless you're going to listen to a lot of multi-channel music). As for the subwoofer, I'm not sure how effective it would be...

I'm not sure why you think connecting the monitor to a receiver is an issue...

But let's get back to basics:
1. What is the purpose of this system? HT (home theater)? Music? A combination of the two (with emphasis on...)?
2. How big is the room in which this system will be installed?[/left]

I've gone ahead and bought the system anyway. I don't really need anything fancy for my room anyway, so this system will do. I've already set it up, but I enounctered a weird issue - When I play an MP3 file or a .flac file, I dont get any sound from the center speaker. however, when I play a movie (with DTS audio), I do get the center to play...
How can I make the center to play even when I'm playing stereo trackers (like audio, and regular videos)

[left]I wouldn't want to have stereo music come at me from the center channel (it kind of defeats the purpose), but again, that's just one person's opinion...

That being said, you can set the receiver to play in ALL CHANNEL STEREO mode, which means that all channels will play even if the source signal is in stereo.

Another option is to use any of the DSP settings, such as Dolby Pro Logic II Music or DTS Neo:6 Music...[/left]

ועוד שאלונת - ישנו כפתור בסטב של crossover.... מה זה ולאיזה ערך הוא אמור להיות מכוון ?

את הקרוס בסאב שים על MAX, את הווליום בסאב תכוון לפי איך שאתה אוהב.
