After I posted my last message at HT, I made contact with Yair Furman and also posted some messages in several audio forum (Linn, Naim, pinkfish...) to get people's opinions and most of them recommended me to get rid of the Saras speakers or even to sell my whole system and buy a new one:
After meeting Yair Furman I decided to trust him and let him try to resuscitate my system; he picked the Saras and the Naim110/42. After he checked my system he recommended to upgrade and tweak the Naim 110/42 , add a DAC + an external power supply unit.. A month has past now and today new system consist of: an upgraded Naim 110/42, my old Saras and a modified (by Yair) LiTe DAC - Ah + an external power supply. I opted to rip my CDs and to buy a mini computer (ASRock 100HT-BD) dedicated to my stereo system instead of buying a CD player.
Without any doubt Yair succeeded like magic to metamorphose my old system and the result is very impressive specially in the reproduction of the middle-range and treble. My new audio system sounds far better than how I wished or dreamed my original system to sound and like magic the Naim 110 and 42 now succeed to drive my Saras successively; hard to believe that my original system is the base for the new one. The difference in sound quality is huge and so is the enjoyment I get from listening to music.
Yair's analogy for comparing listening to music without a DAC and with a DAC is that without a DAC it is like looking at a scenery through a dirty window and with a DAC through a clean window; I can say that compared to my previous system, before Yair's magic, my new one is like looking a the scenery through an open window. The sound is very realistic and very much three dimensional specially when listening to small scale music (chamber music, one singer + one to three instruments, small Jazz bands, acoustic instruments) which it seems, my present system renders the best. I am already thinking about the next upgrade to give my system what it is still lacking to my taste: better/more precise low frequency bass and above all a better representation of large scale symphonic orchestra which today still sounds quite flat, confused and lacking in accuracy.
Before you ditch your aging system do yourself a favor and contact Yair Furman,you won't regret it.
