Do not send a Release when restarting.

Translation from Spanish:
Hello, I hope you can understand.
I have a 2GB connection through IBC on HOT.
I have a Mikrotik rb5009upr+s+in router and a GF25C optical converter with which I have problems.
After a week GoTV gave me the password to access the device (it was the serial number and not admin as indicated in the manual).
I called Hot and they told me that they could not configure my GF25C and that it was not their responsibility, I said correct because it is not their router... I called GoTV and they told me not to touch anything that it is ready for the company to connect, but before I had already restored it from factory because the “admin” password did not enter.
I wanted to know if you could share the parameters of your GF25C (without keys or series) to see if HOT can connect it.
Thank you.

You don't need to configure anything on the device in order to connect to "HOT" internet provider. You just need to give them your device's Serial Number. You can reset the device by inserting and pressing the reset pin for more than 10 seconds. In your PC or router you need to select DHCP instead of Static Address. If you have a problem I would suggest to first try to connect the device directly to a PC to make sure everything works correctly and if it works then try to connect to the router.06/01/2025 19:09JohnVargas

As far as HOT are concerned, they only need to to register the ONT - GF25C, not the MikroTik router.
You also mentioned a 2Gbps connection, please note that this MikroTik device has two 2.5 Gbps capable ports, one of them is SFP plus. If you connect GF25C to the 2.5G RJ45 port, the rest of the LAN ports are 1Gbps only, and this is the speed you will get. Alternatively you need an SFP to RJ45 adapter and connect the GF25C to the SFP PLUS port

Unfortunately NextTV (Hot) could not activate my GF25C, they told me that an installer is needed to configure the ONT to be able to use private equipment at a cost of 125 shekel. Is this true?
I asked many times to send me the configuration parameters that I could do it and I was told that only the installer knows that.
I attach screenshots, I hope for suggestions, I feel disappointed, they literally tell you ah you don't want our router's? 125 for using yours. :/

Well…
They are obliged by law to allow you to use your equipment, however they are not obliged to do it remotely, and free of charge.
From a practical perspective they can do it remotely, they just try to make some more money from this transaction. I personally wouldn’t make a fuss over 125 NIS.
I also noticed that you have an SFP module plugged in to the RB5009?
Edit: Fix paragraph alignment

The annoyance is that they are taking advantage of the non-activation of equipment that is listed as compatible, they don't want to give out the configuration details of the equipment, no one will hack them for publishing them. I say this because in other countries they offer you all the configuration for free by phone or message. If I want to set up a private router it's because I'm not that much of a beginner.
I do have an ODI DFP-34X-2C3 module which I was preparing to omit the GF25C but I don't have the opportunity yet because it is not operational yet.

This reminds me ah... it's free to use eSIM but you have to take it to the shop for our installers to do it and the cost is 100 shequel, when technically it's absurd, all configuration can easily be done by the customer and if I couldn't because I'm a fool then YES, charge me 1000 shequels if you want.

Just to clarify: there is no configuration that they can give you. You need to provide them with the GPON ID of your device, and they register it in their systems. The consumer does not have access to the management systems. This procedure is the same for all service providers which utilize GPON technology.
Regarding the SFP module, you can only activate modules which are on the hardware comparability list which is publicly
available. Otherwise they will refuse to activate the module

I have a request from everyone writing in English (or other left to right languages) in this forum. Please use the appropriate mode in the editor (click on "eng" in the full editor), so that your messages will get properly aligned to the left. Without this, your messages look very bad (and reading them gives me me a headache). Sorry for being off-topic. Thanks!

Yes, they will ask you to pay 120 ILS for a guy to come to your home to look at the Optical Converter device and read out the device's Serial Number to a private phone number of theirs to enable it. Really stupid, I know. You can report this behaviour to the Ministry of Communications and I ask other people to do the same. Also, when they mention that they need to configure the device, they mean at their system remotely and not at yours. You don't need to configure anything in the device and it should work out of the box.

Exactly. HOT is well known for being a horrible company in general and for having dishonest practices in particular, however, the key for getting what you want with all Israeli ISPs is to get it along with the initial installation. Once you allowed HOT to connect you with their router, you fell into their trap. The easiest way out may be to move to a different ISP, while making sure that this time around things work to your satisfaction from the start.
You may want to take the following into account:
The easiest route to using a private ONT device in Israel is to use Bezeq infrastructure, since the companies that are most private-ONT-friendly here are confined to it (specifically: Bezeq, Yes, Gilat-Telecom). With IBC infrastructure, you should expect difficulties.
If you must use IBC infrastructure, the main providers (other than HOT) are Partner and Cellcom. According to what people report online, Cellcom will not let you use a private ONT (regardless of what their website or the law say), but they supply their own bridge ONT device for free. With Partner, it should be possible for you to get connected with your existing GF25C device, but you should insist to get connected like that from day one (or else you may find yourself falling into a trap like the current one with HOT).
If, for whatever reason, you must use HOT, then after moving to a different ISP (like Partner, say), you should be able to move back to HOT with your GF25C device (without paying anything, but, of course, you must insist on getting connected with your own ONT from the start).

I will definitely try to file a complaint with the ministry of communications, I don't speak Hebrew and English well but I will try, it is a very dishonest practice.

Great commentary very informative, these are things I need to learn about the telecom companies in Israel, thank you all for your replies, if ever in life I get to use my own router I will let you know.

Yes I know. I have also heard of cases where this worked for a few days and then stopped working. If you want a guaranteed stable working solution then go with the ISP approved equipment.
Besides the ONT is quite transparent, the router makes a difference in terms of flexibility, security etc.
